V is for Valentine

So I can hurry and get this posted quick, I didn't type anything, just made the pictures clickable. Happy Valentine's Day!

C is for Christmas Countdown Calendar

On December 1st we learned about the letter C and started doing Christmas crafts! Unfortunately, this was during the time I was camera-less, so I just have an image of the advent star I created and a few photos found on the web. Our first project was this countdown calendar. I had the kids glue twenty-four strips of paper to make a chain and attach them to this star.
The poem reads, "December first till Christmas is the longest time of year. Seems as though old Santa Claus never will appear! How many days to Christmas? It's hard to keep a count, so this little paper chan will tell you the amount. Tear a link off every day, I promise, it's not far! Christmas day will be here when you reach the star."

We read Christmas books and ate Christmas cookies for a snack. We colored with crayons and stuck candy canes in the shape of a heart to make Christmas cards.

We made little pompom "cranberry" wreath Christmas ornaments (they didn't turn out this cute or fuzzy looking, though).

Not too fun of a post without all the pictures of the kids!

T is for Turkey

On November 17th we talked about the letter T! We started off by making thankful turkeys out of toilet paper tubes.

I had them come up with one thing they were thankful for to write on a tail feather and they each said "friends". I let them fill out the other feathers at home.

We then decorated little teepees after studying some Native American hieroglyphics. The kids did some great designs of their own!

For snack, we made turkeys out of Oreos, mini peanut butter cups, candy corn & Whoppers.

We had some problems with the cookie halves coming apart, but the kids sure loved them!

We mosaic tiled some paper plates to make turtles,

but the kids tired of it quickly and they didn't end up with very covered shells :)

Our snack took a little too much time, so just Christian & Sierra were left to do the last craft which was a giant toothbrush. It took some major cutting skill to make the bristles!

F is for Flag

Because of technical difficulties (I dropped my camera on the tile floor during preschool) and the business of the holidays, I haven't posted in quite a while! Getting back into the swing of things and now I want to post all the cute pics I have of the kids.

November 10th the theme was F is for Flag (in honor of Veteran's Day). We started out by coloring fruit,
to put in felt conucopias.

We then fingerpainted flags.

On the top they say, "For those who Fought and those who continue to Fight For our Freedom: A Fingerpainted Flag and a promise to never Forget." I have the pdf available here for download, if anyone's interested. They came out so cute!

For snack, we made fruit pizzas!

Just a sugar cookie, cream cheese frosting, and fruit in any pattern they felt like. I think this is my favorite snack!

I read the Rainbow Fish book and then they added fish scales (price dot stickers and a few sparkly circles cut from rainbow prizm sticker paper) to this template.

And lastly, fun turkey finger puppets with feathers.
