T is for Teddy Bear Tea Party

On May 18th we learned about the letter T.  We started out by making teddy napkin rings out of toilet paper tubes.

They turned out terrific!

Next, the kids helped me make some treats for the tea party.  We made tapioca tarts by spooning pudding onto vanilla wafers.

Then we made teddy treats out of toasted coconut marshmallows, peanut butter, and mini chocolate chips.

We made the tea out of raspberry herbal tea and lemonade.  Tangy!

We invited some teddy bears and ate our tasty tidbits!  In addition to the ones we made, there were teddy grahams, tangerine sections, and toasted tuna fish triangle sandwiches.

For a craft, we folded paper towels into triangles and painted with watercolors.

Some came out looking more "tie-dyed" than others!

We sure had a tremendous time!!!

T is for Tree

On December 8th I taught about the letter T. We did some green fingerprints to make tree treat sacks.

We used two triangles

and made triangle Santas!

For a treat, we made Corn Flake Christmas trees (with the recipe for pumpkins here) and used Craisins as tree ornaments.

We taped tinsel to a triangle and tried to wind it around.
The kids got to varrying stages of completion before tiring of this!

We also did tissue paper angels (which I forgot to get a picture of), but we made them as tree ornaments instead of mounted on cards.

T is for Turkey

On November 17th we talked about the letter T! We started off by making thankful turkeys out of toilet paper tubes.

I had them come up with one thing they were thankful for to write on a tail feather and they each said "friends". I let them fill out the other feathers at home.

We then decorated little teepees after studying some Native American hieroglyphics. The kids did some great designs of their own!

For snack, we made turkeys out of Oreos, mini peanut butter cups, candy corn & Whoppers.

We had some problems with the cookie halves coming apart, but the kids sure loved them!

We mosaic tiled some paper plates to make turtles,

but the kids tired of it quickly and they didn't end up with very covered shells :)

Our snack took a little too much time, so just Christian & Sierra were left to do the last craft which was a giant toothbrush. It took some major cutting skill to make the bristles!

Two different "T" days coming up for us in the next month, so I have both Thanksgiving and Christmas themes going on in this post. Images are linked.

I'm thinking about doing this with turkey die cuts instead of pumpkins (to go along with the T theme) and mark some of them "Gobble!" instead of "Boo!"
