W is for Weather

September 29th we had our W theme. We started off by moving our bodies: we wiggled like a worm, wadled like a duck, pretended to wash windows, and flapped our wings. We had lots of free play with a water sensory tub.
We made weather wheels.
It's a little hard to see Christian's since he chose to color his black :) You can see what it looks like in this post.

They colored weather wind socks which had "whirly" grocery sack tails.
I sang a bit of this weather song (to the tune of Bingo):

There was a time when we were hot and sunny was the weather.
S-u-n-n-y, s-u-n-n-y, s-u-n-n-y, and sunny was the weather.

There was a time when we were wet and rainy was the weather.
R-a-i-n-y, r-a-i-n-y, r-a-i-n-y, and rainy was the weather.
There was a time when we were cool and windy was the weather.
W-i-n-d-y, w-i-n-d-y, w-i-n-d-y, and windy was the weather.

There was a time when we were cold and snowy was the weather.
S-n-o-w-y, s-n-o-w-y, s-n-o-w-y, and snowy was the weather.

We made toilet paper roll worms. Christian decided his needed "eyes on da bum" instead of on its head, hehe.
You can make them wiggle!
Snack was homemade watermelon popcicles which were two-toned red and green. The popcicle molds happened to be ones that looked like umbrellas, so that fit in to our weather theme as well!
We wound shiny, metalic pipe cleaners over de-sharpened skewers to make wonderful wizard wands. When they had them the way they liked them, I secured the pipe cleaners with hot glue.
Last, we made wind chimes by stringing beads with jingle bells at the bottom of the pieces of yarn and hanging them on a plastic cup.

We hung Christian's outside where the wind was picking up so we could watch it out the window.
